APRIL 11-12, 2023, THE NETHERLANDS MATHEMATICAL CONGRESS (NMC-2023) WILL BE ORGANIZED AGAIN, IN VAN DER VALK HOTEL UTRECHT.
NMC has been renewed in 2018. For a short video impression of the renewed NMC, click here.
The renewal was one of the actions scheduled in Een Deltaplan voor de Nederlandse Wiskunde, following the concept of the already existing congresses Physics in Veldhoven and ICT Open. After the successful NMC’s of 2018 and 2019 and the careful but successful post-pandemic restart of 2022, we hope for a very successful NMC-2023. It is important to meet once per year as Dutch academic mathematics community; to exchange thoughts, make plans and cooperate in a pleasant ambiance in the middle of the country. NWO financially supports NMC with the intention to further strengthen Dutch Mathematics as a whole.
NMC-2023 has an inspiring and varied program. Keynote speakers are among others:
Éva Tardos (Cornell University), who will be awarded the Brouwer Medal, the most prestigious mathematics prize in The Netherlands
Eva Miranda (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya)
Kavita Ramanan (Brown University)
Klaas Landsman (Radboud Universiteit, Spinoza Prize Winner 2022)
Next to the Brouwer Medal, multiple other prizes will be awarded, among which:
the 50 k€ Stairway to Impact Award
the new 1000 € Indagationes Mathematicae Best Paper Award
the 250 € Pythagoras Profielwerkstukprijs
‘Traditional’ sessions in the program are those of:
the Mathematics Clusters DIAMANT, GQT, NDNS+ and STAR
the NWO Gravitation programs Networks and Quantum Software Consortium
4TU.AMI, European Women in Mathematics – The Netherlands and AI & Mathematics
New elements, for PhD students, are:
informative workshops
the Poster-Prize Competition, next to the traditional KWG PhD-Prize Presentation Competition. Registration for these two competitions is open until March 1 and March 13, respectively
Back as the onsite session is Speed Dates with Industry.
Of course, there will be ample opportunities for talking and working with colleagues and friends from The Netherlands and abroad, and for enjoying good drinks and food during the breaks and conference dinner.
