Title: Do you see what I see? A conversation about noteworthy aspects when teaching statistics, and the potential of Learning Analytics
Abstract: Statistics teaching can be challenging and rewarding. As statistics teachers, we experience joy when our students experience eureka-moments, but what do we see when they struggle to understand? Is it ineffective study strategies, a lack of motivation, frustration, or perhaps anxiety triggered by the numbers on the screen? Each of us interprets these challenges in the classroom or lecture hall differently. This interactive talk offers a unique opportunity to share insights with fellow statistics teachers, focusing on what is truly relevant in the teaching of statistics. Together, we will explore the question: Do you see what I see? Following this conversation, we will delve into the potential of Learning Analytics: Could Learning Analytics help us identify what matters in our teaching? Or are there aspects of our human perception that digital tools simply cannot replace?
