PhD Position in Probability

The Probability Theory Group at the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) offers on Campus Essen a position of

Research Associate (PhD Student) (m/f/d)

for a period of 36 months.

Your tasks:
You will work on the project “Spatial growth and information exchange in evolving environments and on evolving networks” in the framework of the priority program SPP 2265 “Random geometric systems” under the supervision of Dr. habil. Anton Klimovsky. In particular, this will involve conducting research at the frontier of probability theory, as well as actively contributing to the success of SPP 2265.

Your profile:
Completed (or soon to be completed) university degree (e.g., Master’s, Diploma or equivalent of at least 8 semesters of study) in Mathematics with a focus on Probability Theory. First research experience with any of the following topics

Random Graph Models, Markov Processes, Interacting Particle Systems, Mathematical Population Models, Random Media (e.g., Random Walks in Random Environment, Disordered Systems) is a plus.

The position is available starting from October 1, 2020, and is limited to up to three years. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary is based on
remuneration group

13 TV-L (75 % thereof)
