Do you have a broad interest in educational research and would like to contribute to shaping the future of higher education? The Educational Sciences and the Methods and Statistics program groups of the Research Institute of Child Development and Education at the University of Amsterdam are seeking a highly motivated and versatile PhD candidate for a multidisciplinary project about blended learning in higher education.

As a PhD candidate in this project you will delve into the literature about classroom orchestration, teacher professional vision and learning analytics to set up and conduct four interrelated studies in the context of statistics teaching in higher education. Each study will use a different research methodology, including qualitative multiple case studies to gain in-depth insight into how teachers blend online and face to face education, surveys to examine differences across teachers’ blended education choices, and observational studies to better understand how teachers actually interpret and use information related to student learning when making pedagogical decisions.
