We are looking for a postdoc to work on the LUF-subsidized project Using factchecks to combat misleading graphs.
(Social) media is teeming with graphs that give a distorted picture of the underlying data. You will investigate how to effectively correct this type of misinformation. How do you make a fact check of a misleading graph? You will set up experiments to test different approaches, where one experiment will focus on participants with low graph literacy.
This project is a collaboration between the department of Science Communication and Society within IBL and researchers from the Mathematical Institute and the Leiden University Centre for Linguistics. You will be appointed at IBL, but work closely with researchers from these other institutes and will also spend time in the team of Nieuwscheckers, fact checking Dutch news articles.
